Families meet Santa, ride through the snow and decorate cookies Saturday at Santa's Village by the Sea.

Chipper Christmas music echoed across Avenida Del Mar from the Community Center as families flocked to the annual Santa's Village by the Sea.
Although the mild air temperatures prevailed through the late afternoon, children and adults still donned scarves, hats and jackets to sled down the popular Snow Hill attraction.
"This is an amazing event that focuses on the local people," said Parks and Recreation Leader Erica Witigard. "It's really fun to work with the kids, play games and watch the families have fun."
The free event also showcased multiple game booths, cotton candy, pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, cookie baking and a showing of the popular Christmas movie "Elf." While families watched the movie, children decorated cookies and explored candy cane creations from the San Clemente Parks and Recreation staff.
"The Assisteens, which is a volunteer organization of Capo Valley, is helping the children decorate cookies today," said Lisa Delano, San Clemente resident and Assisteen parent volunteer. "We help the children frost and decorate the cookies, which is a fun activity."
The event continues throughout the evening until 7:30 p.m. featuring a special story hour with Santa Claus as well as a walk to Casa Romantica for "Christmas at the Casa."
