The evening's festivities focused on crime prevention and safety in the community for residents.

The National Night Out paid a visit to local residents at Vista Hermosa Sports Park on Tuesday evening. The Orange County Fire Authority, sheriff's department and even the Orange County SWAT team made an appearance with all their gear to talk to residents about methods of safety within the community.
"National Night Out is a community partnership with law enforcement to educate residents young and old about safety information and general crime prevention," said Crime Prevention Specialist and event organizer Janet Dunford. "This is a great partnership to strengthen our community."
The evening included tours of an Orange County Fire Authority fire engine and a SWAT team vehicle, as well as games and information about community law enforcement. Music with Zumba dancing and raffles were also featured throughout the informational booths.
"This is to remind everyone how important it is to be alert and to be thinking about crime prevention," said Orange County Sheriff Sgt. Scott Kennedy. "The community can become more involved by looking out for their neighbors and calling the sheriff's department when they see something that looks wrong."
