Lighthouse Church Celebrates First Harvest Festival

The newly established church donates food and gives thanks to the local community.

Almost 100 people participated in Sunday morning's Harvest Festival hosted the newly established Lighthouse Church at Las Palmas Elementary School. The group organized their first annual festival to give away 100 Thanksgiving dinner baskets to 100 local families.

"The truth is there are families who can't afford to provide," said Pastor Marcus Ellington. "We're here to help be a blessing to these families."

Families picked up dinner baskets and attended a worship service at 10 a.m. The message focused on being thankful for the season's blessings. Children played games and in bounce houses while adults mingled among food and refreshments.

"Today's event is to get people involved with our church and to establish a presence in the community," said church volunteer Dominick Scott, 18. "We launched our church a month ago and we're really excited to be a part of the community."
