UCI Beall Applied Innovation Executive Director and Chief Innovation Officer Richard Sudek received the 2019 Small Business Association District Director Award during the 56th annual Small Business Week Awards held at the Disneyland Hotel.

“This is the American dream: small business,” said Sudek during his award acceptance. “I was a bootstrap entrepreneur, I know what many of you go through … I cannot be more excited to celebrate every entrepreneur in this room and how very honored and humbled to be acknowledged this way.”
The District Director Award recognizes an individual who is a persistent and consistent promoter and supporter of small businesses and entrepreneurs and collaborates closely with the Small Business Administration. Sudek, a close partner with the Orange County Inland Empire district office, championed for Beall Applied Innovation to house a Small Business Development Center, who now have an office at their headquarters, the Cove.
The annual awards ceremony recognizes the dedication and impact of entrepreneurs, business owners and small business champions throughout the community.
“Walt Disney said all our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them,” said J. Adalberto Quijada, director of the SBA Orange County, Inland Empire District Office. “Our small business week celebration is a time when we salute the dedication, sacrifice and the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, business owners and small business champions from throughout our community.”
